Vintage London Buses at Night
Its night time in the city and another bus shoot beckons. After boarding a vintage bus we head off to some of London’s most photogenic locations. Let's hope its raining. A wet night is a bonus, creating mood and ambience in cityscapes.
These photographs are the result of more than a dozen nights like this in London. All the scenes were staged. There are just too many people and traffic in the city to create great transport images without planning. All feature vintage buses, beautiful vehicles especially when compared with modern day transport. Period reenactors add authenticity to some of the scenes.
Many of these photographs were shot in timeless locations. The Royal Exchange, the Bank of England, other parts of the City of London and West End have not changed in centuries. Others feature classic scenes updated by modern day icons. The London Eye as a backdrop to classical Westminster architecture is an example.
The stars of the show are the old Routemasters, RT and other buses from the 1930's, 40's, 50's and 60's. These images are a throwback to days gone by. I hope you enjoy browsing them as much as I did shooting them.
